About INXS
Formed in 1977, INXS is one of Australia's most famous Rock Groups, with popularity spanning almost 3 decades and still going strong today. Concerts in their current world tour have sold out in less than 50 seconds for some venues.
The original band comprised Michael Hutchence (lead vocal), Andrew Farriss (guitar and keyboards), Tim Farriss (lead guitar), Jon Farriss (drums), Garry Gary Beers (bass) and Kirk Pengilly (saxophone and guitar).
After the death of Michael Hutchence in 1997, a few well known singers fronted the band, including Terence Trent D'Arby, Suze DeMarchi, and Jimmy Barnes. John Stevens more permanently filled the role in 2002, but only stayed one year before leaving to pursue solo interests. The band eventually conducted a reality TV show called "Rock Star: INXS" to find a new lead vocalist, the winner of which was Canadian J.D. Fortune.
In their long career, there are many standout moments for INXS. They are one of just two Australian acts that have performed at Wembley Stadium - the other being AC/DC. In 2001 they were inducted into the Australian Record Industry Awards (ARIA) Hall of Fame, where they received a standing ovation. The band has received three Grammy nominations in their 25 year career.
