About George Michael
Born in London on 25th June 1963, George Michael began his musical journey at a young age studying a number of different instruments throughout school including the piano, keyboard, guitar, bass guitar, drums and percussion. He began his career in the band 'The Executive' in 1981 before becoming part of the ultra successful duo 'Wham!' the following year.
The release of their first album, 'Fantastic' opened the door for George Michael and the follow up album 'Make It Big', which included hit singles such as 'Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go' and 'Freedom'. The album sold over six million copies in the US alone and launched the pair into international super stardom. George Michael released his first solo piece in 1984, and with the success of 'Careless Whisper' came the end of an era for eighties pop icon Wham!
Michael went on to pursue a solo career and released his debut solo album 'Faith' in 1987, which topped the charts in both US and the UK, resulting in four US Number 1 singles. This success earned Michael a 1987 Grammy for Best Album and officially established him as a superstar singer and songwriter.
In a career spanning twenty five years, George Michael has been responsible for more than 80 million record sales around the world. His success is hard to rival and to celebrate this milestone Michael will be touring Europe and the UK with the '25 Live Stadium Tour 2007' before releasing another album in late 2007.
