About Dan Aykroyd
Born on the 1st July 1952, Dan Aykroyd rose to fame after appearing as a writer/actor on the CBC network in the 70's. He has since appeared in over 30 feature films, receiving Academy Award nominations for his performance in Driving Miss Daisy and an Emmy for his writing in the Saturday Night Live Show.
Aykroyd, who is also a part of the Blues Brothers, received a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist in 1979 for the triple platinum album 'Briefcase of Blues' which he recorded with the late John Belushi.
In a career spanning three decades, Aykroyd was awarded a Doctorate in Literature from Carleton University in 1997 for recognition of his Saturday Night Live writing and co-writing credits for screenplays which included: Love at First Sight, Blues Brothers, Blues Brothers II, Dragnet, Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters II, Coneheads and Nothing But Trouble. He was also invested with the Order of Canada in 1999, which is given to prominent Canadians trying to better their country.
On top of an exceptional career, Dan Aykroyd has co-owned several bars and restaurants, including the infamous Hard Rock Cafe and the Supreme Court of Rock n' Roll Hard Rock in Dallas Texas where he stars as part of the Blues Brothers, performing on 7 albums and selling over 5 million copies.
