About Jet
Growing up in Dingley Village, Victoria, brothers Nic and Chris Cester formed a band with schoolmate Cameron Muncey and former Casino bassist Mark Wilson. Influenced by 60's and 70's rock music borrowed from their fathers record collection, Jet were inspired by greats such as The Who, AC/DC, Queen, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Kinks.
After signing with Elektra Records in 2003, the band saw some success with the album Dirty Sweet, and went to LA with producer Dave Sardy to work on Get Born. Sardy had previously worked with stars like Marilyn Manson and The Dandy Warhols. The Rolling Stones were so impressed with Jet that they asked them to support the Australian leg of their tour.
The hit Are You Gonna Be My Girl went number one on Triple J's Hottest 100 list in 2003, and became a part of two global advertising campaigns for Apple's iPod and Vodafone. Success continued in 2004 when they received six Aria awards from seven nominations.
International success grew as the band played at the European MTV awards in Copenhagen, then returning to Australia to be a part of the Make Poverty History concert in Melbourne. The bands second album Shine On was released in October 2006 and debuted at number 3 on the Australian music charts. Just recently, Jet released a new song for the Spiderman 3 soundtrack titled Falling Star, and another, titled Rip It Up for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles soundtrack.
