About Glenn Close
Five-time Academy Award nominee and star of the American stage and film industry, Glenn Close was born in March 1947, having a career that so far has spanned three decades. Her choice of stylish and intelligent films has made her one of the most experienced and versatile actresses in the business.
Close shot to fame while she was in her 30s, after settling in Hollywood and making her first film The World According to Garp in 1982.
Her fame is not limited to film as she is not only an Emmy Award-winning TV movie actress, but also a three time Tony Award-winning stage actress. Adding to this, she has received nominations for seven Emmys, seven Golden Globes and five Oscars.
She fulfilled a dream by playing Disney's most notorious villian, Cruella Du Vil in 101 Dalmations, but Close is most famous for her chilling roles as the aristocrat 'Madame de Merteuil' in Dangerous Liaisons and as the pychotic editor 'Alex' in Fatal Attraction.
She was in The Natural, The Big Chill and 1991 film Reversal of Fortune. Also appearing as 'Norma Desmond' in Sunset Boulevard for which she received a Tony award. Close has also appeared in miniseries The Lion in Winter in 2005, giving the actress more critical acclaim and success.
