About Lauren Burns
Without doubt, Lauren Burns is best known for her performance at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, where she won the Gold Medal for Taekwondo. She has, however, accomplished far more in her professional career. She has been the National Taekwondo Champion no fewer than 12 times, and is a 3rd Dan black belt.
She has captained the Australian Women's Taekwondo team, of which she was a member between 1993 - 2000. She has received many accolades as a result of her success, including:

- Twice Blitz Female Full Contact Fighter of the Year (1999, 2001)
- Australian Taekwondo Fighter of the Year (2000)
- Order Of Australia medal recipient (2000)
- Young Australian of the Year, Nillumbik Shire (2001)
- Sports Medal Recipient (2001)
Burns has also spent much time as an ambassador for World Vision's "Destroy a minefield, rebuild lives" campaign, which aims to raise funds to rid Cambodia of landmines.
