About Jimmy Barnes
Jimmy Barnes is one of those rare artists that is both part of an iconic band and also responsible for some truly amazing solo work. Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1956, he moved to Australia when he was 6 with his family. In 1973 he joined Cold Chisel, and between 1973 and 1983, the band recorded 7 albums which include many songs which are generally considered to be amongst Australia's best in class. Songs like Khe Sahn and Working Class Man are amongst the best known songs of all time Australia over.
In 1983, following the breakup of the band, Barnes ventured out on his own to pursue a solo career. His first 6 solo albums all debuted at number 1 on the Australian charts, and his solo work has sold in excess of two million albums. He is the only artist to be entered in the Australian Record Industry Awards (ARIA) Hall of Fame twice: once for his work with Cold Chisel, and the second time for his solo efforts.
