About James Reyne
Born in Lagos in Nigeria to an Australian mother and English father, James Reyne migrated to Australia in the early 60's. He studied drama at the the Victorian College of the Arts, with his musical career taking off after he and some friends formed the band 'Australian Crawl' in the early 80's.
Reynes unique vocal style and writing ability led Australian Crawl to the top of the Australian charts, winning a swag of music awards, with James winning Best Male Vocalist for 3 years in a row.
After Australian Crawl split in 1986, Reyne went to the US and Europe coming back two years later to release a self-titled solo album that went triple-platinum with three top ten singles. His next two solo albums mirrored the success of the first and Reyne moved onto numerous other projects including several theatrical, film and TV productions including Return to Eden, State Coroner and The Little Shop of Horrors.
Speadboats for Breakfast released in 2004 saw Reyne returning to writing and recording original music. Then in 2005, under the umbrella of the Liberation Acoustic Series, Reyne released And the Horse You Rode in On proving that he is a talent that constantly evolves.
